Leki’s Health Journey Vlog – Episode 8

Hello all.

Catch up on what we wrote about last time – HERE.

A big part of my longevity regime is WHY I do it.

In my family tree I am a very high chance of cancer, Type II diabetes and heart disease knocking me over before my time.

So I made the conscious decision to jump in front of the curve and proactively manage my health.

If I had cancer, Type II diabetes or heart disease, what would be the medical advice that the specialist would give me?

  • Lose weight
  • Look at your food
  • Improve your lifestyle choices
  • Start some medical intervention

3 of 4 of these things are the low hanging fruit that I can manage RIGHT NOW!

Why wait?

A big part of achieving this goal is thinking about my 3 Pillars – Food/Water, Air/Exercise and Physio/Clinical.

The discipline of eating well and preparing our meals makes it easier for me to sustain my healthy choices.

Having a morning routine allows me to track my journey without relying on my memories but rather my handwritten journals.

Today I’d like to share an update on my overall progress.

As you know I am a low carb, moderate protein and high fat type of food strategy guy.

I practice this in the form of healthy cyclic ketosis.

That means if I’m good 80% of the time the 20% of naughty things I may choose to eat will be less harmful or easier for my body to process and eliminate/manage.

What’s layered on top of my eating plan is fasting.

At 14% body fat Oct 2019

I practice intermittent fasting and have achieved adaptation or metabolic flexibility so during my 80% cyclic keto effort during the week I also eat during a compressed time window.

Most working days I eat only one meal between a 2-4 hours window – often between 1-5pm.

I’ve been eating this way for over 3 years now and it’s fantastic for me!

Along with continuing self education and careful monitoring of the data (blood monitors, sleep quality, weight and energy levels) I have also started some general supplementation.

I’ll leave the specifics of what and the type of supplements I take until my next health update but I’ve come to realise that this is a test and remeasure situation it’s improved things for me even more!

That’s my short update on the latest and greatest with me.

I hope it helps with your own health journey.
